One of the Biggest Wedding Tips I can give you...

I am sure that by now you have read a multitude of wedding tips, all claiming to be the very best ones. While this may not be THE biggest wedding tip I can give you, it is a very important one! This tip often gets overlooked, or you assume that this is something you will not forget so it is not really a tip.

As a wedding photographer based in buffalo, ny.

As a wedding photographer, as a bride myself, and as a participant in friends and family weddings, I can tell you first hand that this tip is forgotten most of the time. It was something I even forgot for my own wedding so I wanted to share it with you!

Drum Roll please...

One of the biggest tips I can give you is a two-part tip.

Part One

Do not forget to eat on the day of your wedding! Let me repeat that...

Do. Not. Forget. To. Eat. On. The. Day. Of. Your. Wedding.

Regardless of what time you are getting married, make sure that you at least eat breakfast! Weddings are exciting and you are sure to be full of nerves and butterflies! I know you may think that you have the perfect dinner planned that evening and you want to eat as much cake as possible. However, at the very least, make sure you eat something for breakfast. It can be fruit, granola, yogurt, pancakes, oatmeal, cereal, etc. Your body needs the energy, and the last thing you want to do is pass out at your wedding (this does happen!).

Part Two

This brings us to the second part of this tip. Make sure you plan time for yourself to eat at the wedding. Even if you are only having dessert, make sure there is enough fluff room in the wedding timeline that you can enjoy more than just the cake that is smashed in your face by your lovely new spouse.

Let me tell you a story...

This is the story of a very grouchy bride who did not get her cake. Once upon a time, there was a bride who was happy and excited about her wedding day. Everything seemed to go on without a hitch through getting ready, pictures, and the ceremony.

It came time for the reception where the delicious cake that she's been looking forward to eating all day awaits. It comes time to cut the cake and of course, she does not get to eat any of the cake during the cake cutting time because her lovely new husband smashed the cake in her face and instead of her mouth, it went up her nose. This was not what made the bride grouchy, as she also shoved cake in her new husband's face and he did not eat any of it then either.

Now that the cake cutting had started, slices were divided and handed out. The bride made her way back to her table with her delicious cake that she had been waiting all day to eat. However, the second the bride sat down to take a bite of this decadent cake, who but the wedding planner to come and steal her away for some other ceremonious part of the reception.

After a few minutes of doing whatever else it was, which honestly at this point the bride cannot remember why she was stolen away from her cake, she returned to the table to find that the cake was gone! She then goes to get another slice of cake and brings it back to the table to enjoy it. When lo and behold! The wedding planner steals her away for another reception thing! Cake abandoned again the bride starts getting grouchy because she has not eaten anything all day and has been so looking forward to drowning herself in the cake.

Alas, throughout the entire night, the bride only got two small bites of cake before it came to an end (thank goodness there was plenty left over to enjoy later that night with some pizza!)

Yes, that grouchy bride was me!

As silly as this story is, it really irritated me at the time, because as I have mentioned earlier, I was really looking forward to that cake. Now, it definitely did not ruin the whole day or anything like that. At the end of it all, I still got married to my best friend that day, and we did enjoy lots of cake with some pizza after the wedding.

So please, do not be like me and plan for plenty of time to eat your cake and enjoy it too! The same goes for any meal that you plan for your wedding!
